There’s No Age Limit on Exercising…Keep on Moving!

Have you ever met someone who seems to defy aging? Their agility, energy levels, and vitality make them appear far younger than their age and inspire you to get moving! Sure, great genes help with aging, but there is plenty you can do to ensure you have exceptional energy and vitality as you age too.

Exercise is Important for All Ages

The value of exercise is nothing new. It’s well known that exercise helps prevent obesity, boost immunities, and build healthy bodies. Kids exercise innately with play being their natural state. As we age, exercise becomes more and more important and we must choose to add it to our lifestyle. While some people love intense and vigorous workouts, they aren’t necessary for health. All that matters is carving out time for exercise on a routine basis.

Kids burn off their energy- Children use exercise as a way to develop their minds and bodies and to help burn off excess energy. Most children do not have to be coaxed into moving their bodies, they choose exercise as a routine form of play.

Young adults compete and burn off stress- For many young adults, exercise is part of a competitive lifestyle. From sports to group activities, exercise is part of their social life and an opportunity for them to be fit and have fun. Exercise is often a stress reliever as well. As young adults maneuver their careers, budding families, and maturity, they need a safe and appropriate way to regulate their stress on a regular basis. Exercise is an excellent way to burn off stress.

Middle-agers prevent illness and injuries- Keeping joints, bones, and muscles healthy becomes important as we age. Middle-age is an important time to ensure a healthy BMI, good bone density, and healthy circulation in preparation for the elder years. While social activity is just as valuable for mental health, physical fitness takes on a bigger role in longevity and overall health like never before.

The elderly strive for independence- As we move into the final years of our lives, independence becomes a commodity. Mobility and a strong mind ensure we can live independently and healthfully. Even though elderly people have diminishing body mass, it doesn’t mean they can’t stay fit and live healthy and long lives. Exercise helps aging bodies maximize themselves and prevents rapid decline in mobility and cognition.

There’s no age limit on exercise. It’s vital at all stages. Being fit and moving our bodies, even with limitations, matters. You don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from exercise. All you need is the commitment to keep on moving! So what are you doing for exercise? Comment below.
