Everywhere I turn lately on the internet I am seeing more and more information on Tumeric and it benefits.  I have not really jumped on the bandwagon except that I try and cook with this ancient Indian spice when I have food that it fits.

But recently I received a bottle of Tumeric Curcumin from Pure Body Naturals for review so I have been trying it for a few weeks. So what is so great about this spice? Let me tell you some of the benefits of daily ingesting tumeric.

1.  Tumeric contains compounds with medicinal properties.  The most notable compound is the curcumin. It is an anti-inflammatory and an anti-oxidant.

2. Tumeric is showing great promise as an anti-cancer spice.  In several recent studies it has been shown to be effective in treament of bowel cancer,  head and neck cancer, and slows prostate cancer growth.

3. Tumeric is a potent anti-oxidant that can neutralize disease causing free radicals and not only that but helps the body’s own anti-oxidants be more effective.

4. Tumeric can improve brain function and lower risk of brain diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia.  It does this by increasing the levels of a brain hormone, BDNF. This hormones can actually increase the growth of new neurons.

5.  Tumeric may help prevent heart disease. Its biggest effect here is with the lining of the blood vessels, the endothelium. It also is an anti-oxidant as mentioned above and an anti-inflammatory, all thing which also lower the risk of health disease.

Pure Body Naturals Tumeric Curcumin contains 900 mg of tumeric and 100 mg of tumeric extract, the curcumin extract. It contains no artificial flavors, colors, or supplements. It has no preservatives, no sugar, no starch, no diary, no lactose, no soy, no gluten, no yeast, no fish, and no sodium.   That fact that is has none of those things makes it something even my sensitive oldest daughter can use. I am grateful for herbs like this and will be using this more regularly. It is affordable and a valuable herb to take.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Interesting article I read today about the possibility that tumeric curcumin can help to reverse the dangers of an enlarged heart. http://kellythekitchenkop.com/2014/05/why-would-a-17-year-old-athlete-die-in-his-sleep.html
