Vision Herbs and Gifts

For those of you who know me you are already aware that Vision  Herbs and Gifts is a business that I share with my teenage daughter. We started this business 3 years ago making skin care products that are good for your skin. Since age 9 Liana has been interested in herbs and making herbal products. That year for her birthday we got her a herbal start up kit from Herbmentor and she loved it. She got the materials to make an herbal salve and a tincture and made some of both. The salve was such a success that she kept on going with it and  kept our family supplied for several years. She also learned how to make lip balm.

In 2010 our family was beginning to struggle more financially (sound familiar) but I am committed to being home with my children and homeschooling them so going out to work with not an option we would seriously consider. It was at that point that I suggested to Liana that we start a small business. She would make her lip balms and healing salves and anything else she would like to add on and I would start to make some other products like lotion and deodorant. At that point I had a dear friend who was making some of these products and so I consulted with her and she directed me with some recipes and tips. I began to make lotion, skin relief cream,  and deodorant and soon added in some herbal tea blends. We rented a spot at a local farmer’s market and Vision Herbs and Gifts was born.

Since that time we have made a number of changes as any dynamic business should and will do. We no longer go to that farmer’s market to sell but instead primarily sell to friends, online, and at various craft fairs where we are able to be with others who make and sell their own creations. We have gained some faithful customers and we continue to look for new ones. We have added in some new products. I make a bug spray and hand sanitizer and Liana makes a foot butter and a body wash as well. We also purchase soap from another family who makes their own and resell it.

We do use all of our own products and so if not satisfied have tweeked them until we get what we are looking for. We continue to entertain thoughts of new products but often time and energy is what keeps us from much in that arena, although we certainly open to suggestions.
