I recently was introduced to a new product for me,  Kiss Me Organics Matcha Powder.  I have been hearing about matcha powder but this was the first I tried it.

Matcha Green Tea powderMatcha Powder is a fine green powder from green tea from the Camellia sinensis. Matcha is not just ground up green tea leaves, but rather it comes from tea leaves grown in the shade so that the leaves achieve a dark green color, which gives matcha its magnificent amino acids.  Matcha is healthier and has more benefits than drinking straight green tea. Because the whole leaf is ingested one glass of matcha green tea is equal to 10 glasses of regular green tea as far as antioxidants and nutrients. In fact, a 2003 study published in the Journal of Chromatography A found matcha has 137 times more of the powerful antioxidant epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) than other types of green tea. And although it has caffeine it is much less per cup than coffee so it will not have the side effects that several cups of coffee would have.

There are a variety of ways to use this green tea powder. One way I like is to put it in my smoothies. I came up with a super smoothie recipe to use the matcha in. It is a tasty and energizing drink in the morning. I think it would also be great on ice cream but I have not tried that yet. It can also be used in baked goods like muffins and waffles. I even found a recipe for a green tea and chocolate facial mask that claims to be good for slowing the aging process. There are a myriad of ways to use matcha.  I am finding it to be a beneficial product and will make it something I keep on hand in my kitchen. I liked Kiss Me Organics brand because it is organic and of high quality. Have you tried it yet?
